Event Type: Books and Authors
Date: 9/18/2017
Start Time: 1:00 PM
End Time: 2:30 PM
Meet The Author. This year is the 150th anniversary of Laura Ingalls Wilder’s birthday. Her classic coming-of-age story, told through the beloved Little House books, still resonates today as an iconic story of American identity. Bestselling author Marta McDowell’s book, "The World Of Laura Ingalls Wilder: The Landscapes that Inspired the Little House Books," is an exploration of the pioneer writer’s deep connection with the natural world. McDowell shares intimate details about Wilder and the plants, creatures, and landscapes that are so integral to her stories, they are practically their own characters. We’ll serve a taste of the Little House books and attendees may win an old fashioned variety seed packet from Renee's Garden! Books will be for sale and the event will conclude with a book signing. Presented with Chicago Botanic Garden's Lenhardt Library. Sponsored by Highland Park Bank & Trust.
