Rise and Shine Disney and WWII

Event Type: Rise and Shine
Date: 4/26/2017
Start Time: 10:30 AM
End Time: 11:30 AM
Description:
Although the Disney Studio was the toast of Hollywood animation in the 1930s, its fortunes fell quickly on the eve of WWII. Film instructor Jason Sperb discusses Disney's vital--but now forgotten-contribution to the war effort as a prolific producer of hundreds of educational, industrial, and propaganda films during the Second World War--an effort which not only helped save the country but also the studio that would go on to be an American cultural institution. Sperb will show film clips during the presentation. Presented with the Highland Park Senior Center. Sponsored by The Sheridan at Green Oaks.
