18 year olds can vote. Children can’t work in factories. The food you buy isn’t tampered with. Gay couples can marry. There are many rights that we have in the United States that we don’t think much about anymore. They are there; we appreciate them if we pause long enough to think about it. Come and explore a historical perspective how change is made by looking at the spectrum of activism used in the book “We Will Always Be Here: A Guide to Exploring and Understanding the History of LGBTQ+ Activism in Wisconsin.” Think about the change you have helped make or want to make in your community. Program Outline: Educating Yourself Telling your own Story Being True to Yourself Building Community Getting Active We will talk about how you analyze primary sources (documents, pictures, objects, clothing, signs). Enjoy a special display will be on the first floor of the library. Two Zoom participants will walk away with a free copy of the book courtesy of the WI Historical Society!
