What's in a Name? Naming and Identity in The Namesake

Event Type: Book & Author
Age Group(s): Adult
Date: 2/26/2019
Start Time: 7:00 PM
End Time: 8:00 PM
All are welcome to join us for informal conversation and a chance to learn more from special guests. No need to have read the book in advance.

In the book The Namesake characters' names have special significance. We'll talk about how names shape identity, especially in the lives of immigrant families. If you have a story about your own family and the significance of names, we would love to hear it.

This program is a part of the Library's participation in a National Endowment for the Arts Big Read Program focusing on the novel The Namesake by Jhumpa Lahiri. NEA Big Read is a program of the National Endowment for the Arts in partnership with Arts Midwest.
