"REFUGE: Stories of the Selfhelp Home" is a documentary film about the last generation of Holocaust survivors in Chicago. It weaves together historical narrative, archival footage, and personal testimony to reveal the origins and originality of a resourceful Chicago-area community that over generations has brought together more than 1,000 Central European Jewish refugees and Holocaust survivors under one roof. Director Ethan Bensinger will screen the film.
