Film showing & discussion - Classical Music in Film
Auditorium - Meeting Room, HP Library
This is the story of Carlo Broschi, known as Farinelli, famous in the 18th century as the world's greatest castrato. Farinelli had everything: charisma, talent, money, fame, women, and the voice of an angel. Early in his career Farinelliís father had declared that he should only sing songs of his brother Riccardo. When the singer is given the opportunity of working with the great composer Handel, his brotherís jealousy and Farinelliís own poorly chosen career alliances stand in his way. This film was directed by Gťrard Corbiau. In French and Italian with English subtitles.
Presented with the Highland Park Senior Center
