"Sherpas, Fish and Fuzzy Creatures” Nursery Rhyme Mural Oil Paintings by Karol Greene Baker On Display: August 5-29, 2014 Opening Reception Tuesday, August 5 6:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. Open to the Public About the Artist: Karol Greene Baker is an artist whose works in the media of oils, illustration, and murals have gained her much acclaim as well as personal satisfaction.  Her dreamy, stylized illustrations and finely detailed and often-whimsical creations, painted in rich, lush colors, showcase her love of the craft and display her mischievous sense of humor. With subjects and projects as diverse as fairy tale murals to aquatic cocktail parties, Karol offers her sublime and, at times, sideways, take on all things awaiting her view and her brush. She especially enjoys painting animals, where she strives to capture the “animal spirit” and mix it with a “human essence.” A graduate of Rutgers University, Camden, with a B.A. in fine arts, Karol has illustrated numerous children and young adult books, in addition to her murals and commissioned pet portraits. In 2008, she completed the Cherry Hill Library’s Nursery Rhyme Mural, in the Story and Craft Room. Please feel free to visit the 37-ft. wide x 9-ft. high mural, Karol’s homage to growing up in Cherry Hill. Karol also teaches painting classes at the YMCA in Mt. Laurel and Burlington, NJ, and to seniors at the Evergreens Retirement Community in Moorestown, and at Michaels in Moorestown.
