Summer Fun with Leaping Literacy! Moon Crazy with Jackson Gillman!

 Put on your imagination caps and blast off with Jackson on his lunar adventures of captivating songs and stories. This special program which is co-sponsored with Leaping Literacy and the Library,is open to the public but needs registration. Children ages 5-10 are welcome to sign-up.
Blue Hill Public Library and School Union #93 are co-sponsoring 3 week-long sessions in July and August of a free morning day camp at the Library, called Summer Fun with Leaping Literacy. Children will use art, drama, and movement to enter the wonderful worlds of their favorite books, fun and exciting ways for children to explore story books, strengthen their reading skills and let their imaginations take them for a thrilling summer ride. Activities will include “music and jumping around,” journals, interactive science, book-making, and art projects.

The program is for children Ages 5 to 12, but the age range is flexible based on interest and need. The sessions are scheduled for Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to noon, July 21-25, July 28-August 1 and August 4-8. More than one session may be requested depending upon availability. In addition, middle or high school students may request an internship to assist the teachers, and receive community service hours and a letter of recommendation upon completion of the program.

“Moon-crazy” children ages 5 to 10 are invited to “blast off” with storyteller Jackson Gillman for a lunar adventure of captivating songs and stories, on Tuesday August from 10:45 AM to noon at the Blue Hill Public Library. Kids do not need to be part of Leaping Literacy in order to participate in this program. The workshop is free, but registration is required.
"Stand-Up Chameleon" Jackson Gillman magically transforms himself into a wide array of eccentric characters through his many talents as mime, actor, songsmith and storyteller. His interactive performances are seasoned with skillful dialect, song, dance, mime and sign language. In 2013, Jackson was featured at the National Storytelling Festival in Tennessee for the fourth time. He has thrice been Teller-in-Residence at the International Storytelling Center and has performed at festivals and schools throughout the country.
