Film Queen of the Sun: What Are the Bees Telling Us? to be shown Aug. 26

BLUE HILL–The documentary film Queen of the Sun: What Are the Bees Telling Us? explores the global bee crisis and humans’ relationships with bees. It will be shown at the Blue Hill Public Library on Aug. 26 at 7 p.m. The 2010 film, directed by Taggart Siegel, features Michael Pollan, Vandana Shiva, and Gunther Hauk, as well as beekeepers worldwide. Queen of the Sun explains the Colony Collapse Disorder and presents solutions for restoring a balance with nature.

The film showing is one of the late summer events sponsored by Peninsula Peace & Justice. On Sept. 16, Peninsula Peace & Justice will host University of Southern Maine professor Ken Jones for a talk on Honduras. Jones was on a recent School of the Americas Watch delegation to Honduras that met with human rights workers, leaders of a growing resistance movement, and teachers and rural families resisting repression. For more information about these events, call 326-4405. All are welcome.
