Workshop: Exploring Wabanaki/Maine History

Event Type: Library-sponsored Adult Event
Date: 3/28/2020
Start Time: 10:00 AM
End Time: 12:00 PM
The library, in conjunction with Blue Hill Heritage Trust and The Bay School, will host a two-hour workshop with Maine-Wabanaki REACH. This program is an interactive story-telling experience in which participants will learn about "events in the 450-year colonizing history of Wabanaki People (the indigenous people of Maine) and Europeans and their descendants." This is a participatory program appropriate for adults and high school students.

REACH (Restoration-Engagement-Advocacy-Change-Healing) began as a collaboration of state and tribal child welfare workers who initiated the Maine Wabanaki State Child Welfare Truth and Reconciliation Commission and supported the Commission as it worked in Wabanaki and Maine communities. The Commission's findings and recommendations, inform and guide REACH's work and vision for the future.

This event is funded in part by the Friends of the Library. The program is free and open to anyone, but space is limited so advance registration is required via the library's online calendar at or by calling the library at 374-5515. This event will be held at Emlen Hall at The Bay School.
