Years of isolation from the wider world have helped preserve Laos’ peaceful nature and allow a glimpse into a quieter time. From the golden pagodas, to the rich landscape and the welcoming Lao people, audience members will travel with Gary along the Mekong River to the charming colonial World Heritage city of Luang Prabang, with its French-Indochinese architecture, and traditional Buddhist culture; and explore the villages along the Mekong River, with its enchanting waterfalls and the hill tribes of the mountainous north.
Gary Harmatz has been a wildlife, nature, travel and underwater photographer for almost 30 years. His nature and travel photography has taken him throughout Europe, Japan, Southeast Asia, the Bahamas, North and South America, Antarctica and Africa.
Gary’s sense of color, light, composition and his ability to tell a story with his photography makes him a unique photographer and lecturer. He makes his home both on Clearwater Beach, Florida and on the coast of Maine.
This program is sponsored by the library and everyone is welcome. For more information call the library at 374-5515.
