How to Plan a Cutting Garden with Cullen Schneider

Event Type: Library-sponsored Adult Event
Date: 5/18/2016
Start Time: 6:00 PM
End Time: 7:30 PM
Cullen Schneider, owner of Fairwinds Florist will give a presentation at the Blue Hill Public Library on Wednesday, May 18th at 6:00 PM on how to plan a cutting garden that will yield beautiful bouquets and arrangements. The talk, part of the Library’s Live & Learn series, will touch on the basic elements of floral design and suggest plants to grow for cutting.
Cullen Schneider, a certified and Maine Master Floral Designer, celebrated 10 years of ownership at Fairwinds this past December, as the 5th owner of the beloved Blue Hill business. She now has 20 years of experience in the industry, and last fall was accepted into the American Institute of Floral Designers accreditation program.
Cullen has worked to expand Fairwinds’ offerings over the past several years, adding a greater variety of flowers and growing many at her own flower farm. She now devotes more than 7,000 square feet to production on her Orland property including two greenhouses. She grows about 45 varieties and supplies Fairwinds with more than 60 percent of its flowers. In addition to a full range of floral offerings at her shop, Schneider also has a flower CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) program using the flowers from her gardens.
This event is sponsored by the Library. There is no charge, and everyone is welcome. For more information, call the Library at 374-5515.
