Description:
A slide show presented by David Haas. The Way of Le Puy, a part of the pilgrimage route to Santiago de Compostela, stretches 762 kilometers from the town of Le-Puy-en-Velay in the mountains of central France to Roncesvalles just across the border in Spain. It passes through some of France’s most beautiful countryside and takes you to some of the country’s most spectacular medieval art works like the sculptures at Conques and Moissac. The pilgrim walks through several regions from the forests and dairy farms in the mountains of Auvergne to the sunflower fields of the Gers, the vineyards of Gascony and the high pastures of the Pyrenees. David's talk will introduce you to the Way of Le Puy and to the pilgrimage route of which it is a part. With text and pictures, David will take you with him on the pilgrimage that he did this summer. Funding provided by the Friends of Appleton Public Library. Free admission.
